That's Kwame's cell. His new home. Newspapers are writing about it. Former residents include Jack Kevorkian and White Boy Rick. It is 15 by 10 feet. Twice the size of a standard cell, but that's because it's meant for those in protective custody. The famous or infamous stay in that cell alone 23 hours of the day, so it is roomier than the norm. The sheriff describes it as "no country club".
I don't know.
Yeah it's made of light cream painted concrete blocks and a heavy steel door. And all you get is a bed and a small table and chair. It has a second tiny room with a shower and toilet but no door for privacy. Hell, you're in there alone. Who needs privacy? And he's allowed to have a tv. Even when he gets out the one hour a day for recreation, THAT'S private too.
So tell me if I'm crazy but, for anyone who gets stressed out with work, money, kids, family, etcetera...a couple of months in a private room where you can read or watch tv all day with nothing else to do, no other responsibilities, and they feed you, and you're guaranteed to not be beaten or raped or even have to use the toilet in front of other guys...sounds kinda nice to me. Sure there's the whole can't leave thing, but man. No woman can ask you stupid questions about which color window treatments you should buy, as if you even know what the hell a window treatment is. Annoying family members can't call you to ask you for money that they pretend they'll pay right back. Yeah you'd miss the kids, but you'd see them in a few months and you wouldn't have to watch Dora Saves The Rabid Dead Skunk or whatever the hell episode they're running 17 times that afternoon. I'm just sayin'. Sleep when you want. Read. Watch some television. Oooh, if you could get your own tv with a dvr? Sweet! Is this really justice? Or is this a nice break?
I think most guys would agree the three worst things about prison would be rape, beatings, and dropping the browns off at the pool in front of the guy who just beat or raped you. Not being able to go to Thanksgiving at your in-laws house? C'mon. How high up the worst thing list is that really? Like 865th?
Kwame Kilpatrick will be in that cell tomorrow night. Alone with no distractions and a good book or watching Madden Nation and the World Series of Poker. What are you gonna be stuck doing? That's all I'm sayin'.

Jeff - I agree with what you're saying except for the fact that those responsibilities (except possibly minus the wife and family) will be waiting for him when he gets out. He has to sit on his ass knowing the bills are piling up and (hopefully) he will have no source of income.
That's one of the reasons that normal, law-abiding people are afraid of jail; regardless of the "time off", life is still waiting to kick your ass when you get out.
By no means am I feeling sorry for him. I guess in a way I'm hoping that he worries about all this shit while he's in there and that it's twice as bad as he ever imagined when he gets out.
I have a friend who was caught embezzling less than $2000 to help feed an addiction. He got clean, but was still convicted of a felony. This all came down while he is working for another company so he didn't have to find a job as a felon. He has a wife and two kids and has to live every day with the knowledge and fear that if he loses his job, he may never find one again. But Kwame gets to sit on his fat ass for a few months and will probably have book deals and speaking engagements to look forward to.
Asshole.

YOU SAID IT!!! That would be HEAVEN to my husband!
Still missing you and Bill!
October 27, 2008 10:35 PM
Jeff, you forgot to mention that he has also his own phone
October 28, 2008 3:48 AM
This fat ass gets television and phone. That's just great. This is our tax dollars at work, housing this load. To Brian: I'm sure he has stolen enough money while in office to pay the bills, so I'm sure he is not at all worried about that.
Also, has anyone heard that after he gets out of jail he has a job waiting for him at Compuware? Is that really true? If so, he'll work there for five years, then run for office and get elected AGAIN.

Yeah F kwame. But really when the hell are you guys going to give us some kind of GOOD news.... like when D&D will be coming back. After the holidays right? Send me an email, I promise I wont tell! Thanks. kandrews1027@yahoo Oh and I hope you come on in the afternoon again, mornings are for my sirius and Howard.

Sounds like he'll have plenty of time to plot his next misdeeds.
According to something I read this morning, his first dinner is beef pot pies.

Sounds like Jeff is a little burned out on all the time he's spending with the family waiting for the non-compete huh? Yes, I've sometimes thought "maybe minor surgery and a couple days in the hospital laying around" would be a nice break, but I think when it comes down to it, knowing your freedom is gone is the main point of prison. Or dare I say the 17 years I spent married was prison enough, but with no bars! All I can hope is that Kwame is miserable every minute of every of his 120 days in jail. And I hope while he's there they find more shit to pin on him. Watching his demeanor in the courtroom, and his pathetic, useless piece of shit wife next to him, was enough to make me puke! She's an even bigger asshole than he is for sitting there and taking all this crap. I'll be amazed to see how the Beatty thing ends up. Boy, she sure is a shell of that person we saw on the stand for sure. Shame on him, and shame on the women who bought his line of shit and stuck by his side. Good riddance to the who pathetic bunch of them.

I heard Kwame has already got MTV coming over to tape a new episode of Cribs, to see how da Detroit gangstas hang, yo!
October 28, 2008 9:25 PM
That thing's nicer than most state university $1000-a-month dorm rooms--no exaggeration. Ah, glad to see our taxes are going to the right places!
October 28, 2008 9:44 PM
Wow, makes me want to run for mayor and then perjure myself!

Here's an idea to get the funds back in to Detroit. How about pay per view Kwame Cam! Simple mount a few webcams just outside each corner of his cell so we can all get a glimpse of this jerk and laugh. I pay for that, knowing it was going back to help out Detroit.

You forgot the stylish orange jumpsuits he gets to wear. He can pretend he's Elvis with jail house blues.
October 29, 2008 11:19 AM
I hear somewhere Kwame gets 3 channels on the TV. They should limit it to one, on that one channel make it Steve Wilson all the time.

I hope that while he is in the cheapest room per day that the public has ever had to pay for him Strawberry's attorney will get copies of the text messages from 39 city issued phones and will find evidence of his involvement in her death. That could mess up his setup for a comeback for sure. Watched the sentencing proceedings yesterday and have to once again be amazed by his arrogence and complete disrespect for authority.

Jeff-PLEASE comment on this quote from his his dad:
Afterward, when a seething Bernard Kilpatrick was asked what he felt while he watched his son led into custody, he replied: “The anguish of thousands of black fathers for years who watched their sons being railroaded into jail.”
Not to mention the asshole's behavior in court.
THX!!

Thanks for the larger font. It's easier on the old people eyes.

And he also doesn't just have regular TV, but CABLE TV. That pisses me off when I know people...HONEST people who are working hard every day and can't afford to pay for cable each month.
I agree with Brian's comment; Kwame will saunter out of jail into some kind of deal. I'm just praying that he'll have a much harder time than he thinks. He won't have his law license, and kudos to the Judge for not letting him get his hands on that "Kilpatrick Fund" stash of cash. He shouldn't get a penny of it, and I hope they end up making him give it back as part of his restitution. I'm still praying that somehow, some way, Karma will still bite him in his fat smug ass.
I truly don't believe his legal troubles are behind him, either. The Feds are still investigating him and his crooked father. I'd be willing to bet that there will be more corruption charges to come.
Kwame's father is a smug IDIOT. As a Black person, I can't tell you how insane and embarassing his comments were. UNREAL. If you listen to him, it's easy to see why Kwame turned out like he did. I believe both father and son are SOCIOPATHS. Although they are "educated", they are completely self-centered, think they can charm their way out of anything, feel that they're entitled to the world and always blame OTHERS for their own wrongdoing. The whole family is warped. And I've lost all respect for Carlita. I used to think that maybe she had a little class but not after that performance in court. What a joke she is. Why is she holding on to that bastard? O.K. I know...never mind that text messages prove Kwame has been in love with Beatty for years...that was the media's fault too, right??
Missed you, Jeff - great to hear from you again!

I agree with what you say about his jail time being a mini-vacation. It is. We will never know exactly what goes on with him behind bars. I'm sure there will be a few drinks or any other comforts of life that will be favored to him during his time there. He will be "taken care of" in more ways than one. But it will all be hush-hush. He's fine, and he knew that when he plead guilty. He has way too many friends and family on the payroll to not be treated well. He won't lose a dime because he has way too many friends on the outside and god only knows how much of Detroit's money he has stashed away here and there. We'll never know. If you haven't noticed, Detroit is managed by 70 year old idiot women wearing extravagant Kentucky Derby hats that probably cost an arm and a leg. They can't even agree on the weather, yet they're in charge of an entire city. It's just sickening and embarrassing.
I remember a few years ago he hosted Queen Latifa when she was in town. It was reported in the Freep. Oh yeah, he took her to an underground/illegal gambling ring type thing in the early morning hours, the whole time guarded by Detroit ( tax payed ) officers. Yeah, he's got friends with clout and money and he knew that when he plead guilty.
Nobody cares anymore if you're guilty. If you are black and in a high position and pretty much kill someone, your peers will back you 100%. Case in point Marion Barry. It's the same mentality here.
Sad, stupid, and disgusting but that's their mentality.
He'll be fine and he knows it.
Sorry, gotta go puke.....
