HURRICANES FROM SPACE

As hurricane Ike gets ready to arbitrarily raise gasoline prices, or do whatever the hell it is going to do, click on this link and check out some very cool images courtesy NASA. Spectacular shots of hurricanes from outer space in amazing detail. It's cool shit.
Here's the link. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/09/hurricanes_as_seen_from_orbit.html

Those pictures were spectacular! Seeing that makes me feel very very small :-)

On that note, what is absolutely driving me crazy are those who wish to stay in the path of Ike and "ride it out". These must be the people who don't have a TV, computer, or neighbors. If they did, they would have read up on the Katrina incident.

So how much of our tax dollars are going to be spent to pluck those idiots off their rooftops? Waves are already crashing over the sea walls, and the hurricane isn't there yet.

I hope everyone is ok, and I hope their sea walls hold. If not, I hope this teaches them a lesson in humility.

Gas prices are gonna suck.

It is amazing how something so beautiful can be so awful.

Wow, those are definitely cool. I love shots like that. I wish they still had the NASA channel on cable, I would get mesmerized by the shots of earth from the shuttle.

NASA always comes up with the best awe-inspiring pictures.

@Pam
Some people can't evacuate. My Mom has a friend that lives in a suburb on the South-East edge of Houston, she has some medical issues that keep her from being able to make that kind of evacuation trip. It's kind of a 'almost certain death versus very possible death' situation. Fortunately for them (she and her husband), last I knew they hadn't so much as lost power in their home.
