"DETROIT, YOU HAVE SET ME UP FOR A COMEBACK."

Did I just hear that right? Oh man, I think this thug's street name should be Narcissus he's so freakin' in love with himself. Tonight's goodbye speech was actually a campaign speech. Unbelievable. How about him going on the attack that this was all politics and going after Jennifer Granholm as if she just had it out for him. What else was she supposed to do when City Council petitions her for a hearing? Ignore it? Said no? That would have been complete dereliction of duty. Then he goes on to list his administration's wonderful accomplishments and wraps it up with saying 'you have set me up or a comeback'. He wants to run again someday. Mind boggling.

Agree 100%!! And when he was thanking everyone...sounded like he just won a fri**in award, or something! If this city elects him to ANYTHING (even chief dogcatcher) in the future, then there is no hope for this city...

i was right about nathaniel abraham and i'm pretty confident that i'll be right about this punk ass, too. mark my words, in five years, we will be shaking our heads, shrugging our shoulders and repeating 'whuthufu?!' as the people of detroit RE-ELECT this creep to *some* position in this pathetic city's government. stupid is as stupid does and the people of detroit have yet to learn that in order to be taken seriously, you HAVE to CHANGE. unfortunately for them, change is not in their vocab, they *like* to keep it real, keep it the same. it's EASIER. everyone knew about kwame's discretions before and during his tenure and everyone looked the other way - and - they voted him in AGAIN. i have no pity for him, his family, his friends or the people of detroit. you made this bed, you LIE in it. and thanks for making michigan the laughingstock of the nation, once again. *sigh*

I saw part of this douchebags court time. The judge said something to the effect ,"You are considered innocent until proven guilty, do you understand that?" And the piece of shit answered, "I've given up on that a long time ago" Something to that effect.

I've done research on the guy who is going to take over "Kwame's" (could you actually come up with a more stupid name) position and he was officially investigated by the FBI years ago. Do your homework people. You Detroit people, you're losers and you're voting for the same. I pretty much don't give a shit anymore. You're all scum.

My favorite parts:

a) The entire audience described as his "friends and family"
b) The attack on Jenny. As if she CHOSE to nail him to the cross instead of fixing "state" problems like unemployment and foreclosure. Last I checked, statistically, the majority of those problems fall within the City of Detroit and that would leave who, exactly, the responsible party????
c) The explanation that he and Carlita are "closer than ever". Awesome K-Dog, but that bitch is gonna put a knife in your back while you're sleeping. 'Member what she did to Tamara????
d) The RAVE REVIEWS the City has been getting this year in the media. Hey, how come he left out the Forbes article about Detroit, the Dying City and the FBI's declaration that Detroit is the #1unsafest city in America?

P.S. Hey Kwame - you didn't invent the Neighborhood Enterprise Zone, it was established in 1985 (when you were 15) by an Act of the Michigan Legislation. It just took TWENTY THREE YEARS to get to the City. Kind of like Waste Management.

Kwame is a piece of shit. Period. And because of our stupid system of letting un-qualified, "minorities" into office because of the most idiotoc gov. sponsered program, this is what we have= Kwame, and others like him around the country. Not only that but inner-city losers who have nothing better to do than to vote once a year for currupt, thugs. It's disgusting. The guy that's going to take over "Kwame's" office....guess what, he's already been investigated by the FBI years ago. So, idiots elect idiots. Detroit is fucked because of the volume of uneducated black, pieces of shit who shouldn't have the right to vote, in my opinion. Get a degree, or a decent education, then you should be able to vote. The crack-heads nothing better to do than to vote. The whole thing is just disgusting.

What a self rigeous asshole. If people vote for this thug in 5 years then they are as stupid as ever. This low life spent city money like he was printing it himself. I think he should of gotten more time and paid more. I mean look how smug he was when he showed up late for the hearing.

In 1990 Marion Barry was caught on video SMOKING CRACK while he was in his 11th year as Mayor of Washington DC. After serving 6 months, he was elected to city council, and then as mayor in 1994.

Well, I was going to write a big long paragraph about Kwame, Detroit, and how he will be elected again in the future, but I think every person above me covered my points pretty well...

Honestly, though, get anyone in there... anyone will be better than Kwame... Hey... does Rudy need a new job???

OH NO...when I read this I thought YOU were talking about a comeback ...dang.

But on the Kwame thing - totally despicable - the word "hubris" can't even begin to cover him, maybe "psychotically delusional"...

Well said by everyone. Part of the problem is the way Detroit's City Council is elected - at large, instead of by some type of geographical base. The government needs a complete overhaul!

Really, was KK's televised address last night a resignation speech or an Academy Award acceptance? Give me a break!

For months now I have been certain that Kwame has totally lost touch with reality. He surrounds himself with hangers-on who's only purpose is to re-inforce his inflated self image. Yesterday only validated my opinion. It's sad to see someone with so much potential living in such a fantasy world and throwing it all away.

He gave this whole speech about how much money he has saved the City of Detroit. What he failed to mention is that all the money and then some went to cover up for his lying arse.

D&D this is when I missed you the most. I long for your show discussing this topic.

I agree with all the other comments.

The strangest thing happened at work today, someone I work with lives in Detroit and the had the nerve to say they would probably vote for him in 5 years if he ran again. I'm sure there are more people out there like that. Detroit will be doomed once again if that happens.

BTW...congrats to Beaver and Cookie Crisp!!!

This man is the very DEFINITION of a narsisistic sociopath. I think even he believes all the lies he told. Will he ever be elected again, who knows. But the next five years will definitely take a financial and personal toll on him. No job, no money, no law license, pension, etc. And I can only hope his wife leaves. If not she's as sick as he is. I'm sure the local news channels will keep us up to date as to what's happening with this guy. You know the saying "the bigger they are, the harder they fall." I think this is going to be quite a fall indeed.

In order for him to be able to run for Mayor of Detroit he would need a full pardon from the Governor, right? Detroit's charter says no felons in office, and you can't have your criminal record expunged if you have more that one felony. He's not going to run for mayor, my guess is Governor, Senate, or Congress... He's the biggest waste of flesh on the planet and needs to go away forever.

I'm sure his mommy will hook him up with a lobbyist job, providing she get's re-elected, to tide him over until he can corrupt, uhhm, I mean run for office again. I doubt he needs the money anyway when you think about all the money he was lining his family's pockets with for the past 7 years, it will start flowing back now, and that was the plan all along.

Kwame should be hanging himself in shame instead of talking about a "comeback"...

Sad thing is Detroit will re-elect him...he'll learn NOTHING from this.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the vote for City of Detroit government were opened up to all Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb county residents?

After all, what happens in the City impacts the rest of those counties in a HUGE way...

I am not sure if Kwame has a chance to come back as mayor. Coleman Young Jr. is running. Lord knows if he leaves off the Jr he is a shoe-in for the mayor's office. Voters in Detroit are pitiful.
