FOR THE DREAM CRUISE HATERS
and all the people that complain how it disrupts business on Woodward. Does it disrupt some businesses? Of course. But overall it brings a tremendous amount of money to local business. A recent market survey finds local business made out to the tune of 56 million dollars in last year's Dream Cruise. How huge a deal is that? Compare it to the Tigers playoff run a few years back, 37.8 million extra. Or the MLB All-Star game, 42 million. Or even Super Bowl XL...49.3 million dollars. Yes, even bigger local business impact than Detroit's hosting the Super Bowl. Complain all you want about this great event, but it's just as great for business as it is for the people.

The people who "hate" the Dream Cruise aren't anti commerce. They're anti traffic jam...

My only observation about this years cruise is that there were no Semta busses running on Saturday. I understand why (fuel cost), but it limited alot of people from traveling to other city's on the route. I and my husband WALKED from 15 mile to 11 mile, and back. All in all we clocked over 9 very "green" miles. It didn't matter to us that the busses weren't running because we would have walked anyways. Deb from the O.C.

People need to "chill out" We need all the revenue we can get these days!!! Its only 1 weekend....

You know.. if they moved the dream cruise to a less populated area, these same people would be bitching about the revenue lost to their area, and if they stopped it all together they would be bitching about the revenue lost... these people that bitch and moan about everything and every little inconvience we born to do do just that, bitch their entire life and do nothing important with that bitching...

Because the Dream Cruise has expanded from just one Saturday in August, to people starting to head to Woodward 1-2 weeks early, HAS to have an economic advantage to these businesses. I'm sure in the week(s) leading up to the event, every restaurant, store, etc. sees a huge increase in revenue. I think it's one of those instances where people don't realize how GREAT it is that we have this big event each year. It's not like all big cities have a Dream Cruise, and people come from all over just to see the great cars everyone in Michigan is so proud of.
Cars made this town, and they are important and nostalgic to everyone. How many huge gatherings like the Dream Cruise can 3 generations of a family spend a great day together just enjoying cars?
These idiots need to stop complaining.

perhaps i am mistaken...but i recall you ranting and raving on and on about how much you hated the dream cruise a few years back on your show....
i get it if you've had a change of heart ... just wondering what caused it?

Not true. Rudy ranted about how much he hated it. I've never said such a thing. This is where I'd prefer people email me a thing like this directly rather than putting it up as a comment, because then I have to use the comment section myself to address it, or not allow the comment to begin with which I hate to do.

I live in the country so I have no basis to comment. I just wanted to say that I really, really, really miss your show. How much longer?

Can you post a link to where you found these dollar numbers? I'm sure the cruise has a positive impact on local business, but bigger than the Super Bowl? I'm a fan of the dream cruise but that's very hard to believe. I'm sure you saw it somewhere but I'd like to see how they came up with those figures

i agree jeff, i am not a "redneck" and neither are my friends that absolutly love the cruise, we're hard working 20 somethings who just happen to love cars of all types and love showing off our cars. It's like...we don't have much in this region so we look forward to the simple things like, ball games (even when our team SUCKS), and cruises...it gets our mind off of all the crazy crap that happens in this damn city, and it always seems that these stupid "yupees" always have to turn their nose up at us and steriotype us because this is one of the few times in this stupid city that we just get to unwind and forget for a moment all of the serious things...well they just don't get it i guess, and thats fine with me they can just move!!!
