AND NOW, A WORD FROM DOYLE....
For all the tens of people who might have the (apparently unexpressed) desire to know what I have been up to, here goes:
Most of my time has been devoted to, well, not competing. Every day, I ask myself, "What can I do today to not compete?" So far, I've been pretty pleased with my lack of effort on that front.
I also rounded up all the books I've bought over the years but didn't have time to read and put them in a big stack. I then moved the stack to where I couldn't see it anymore so I wouldn't feel guilty about not reading them.
You know those daunting projects you think about doing, but you don't start them because you know you don't have enough time to finish them? Even though you know the project will enrich your life, benefit you and your family, and possibly nourish your soul, the sheer magnitude is too overwhelming and the chances of completion are too remote for you to even begin? I've undertaken one of those and am proud to report that, to this point, I have unlocked 12 of the 41 Historic Teams in NHL 2K8 for the Playstation 3, including the '52, '97, and '02 Red Wings. The '63 Maple Leafs were particularly difficult since you have to score on a power play and there's just no way to make the other team commit a penalty. I am hopeful that I will have them all unlocked by the time I actually get a job.
A couple of months ago, I took a trip to Colorado and New Mexico with my oldest son; if you are desperately bored, you can see pictures of that trip here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bildo17/collections/72157604357756986/ ...but be warned- they are mainly landscapes and would be extremely dull to most people.
Congratulations to Nicole Salem on making it to the "Exotic Eight" in the WRIF Rock Girl competition! Oh, and sorry your rat, Trevor, died. I was wondering, did you use poison or a trap? I know the poison is more effective, but with the trap, you know exactly where to find their disfigured corpse. If you used a different method, let me know. Thanks!
I enjoyed reading the "Rudy Gets So Drunk He Goes Into The Wrong Apartment" story. Rudy's antics used to have a certain "Animal House" quality to them; now they seem more like "Leaving Las Vegas" (without, I assume, the Elizabeth Shue butt-rape scene).
I was going to give my take on "Lost" so far this season, but I think I'll save that for next week; I'm kinda spent from unlocking the '87 Oilers today.
Oh, and while you all certainly have my permission to ignore most things CBS, please listen to "Pwned Radio" with Shane Hamelin on Sunday nights at 8 (except this Sunday 5-11-08 when it will be pre-empted because they are supposed to be moving the studios). Shane's lifelong dream was to host a radio show about video games and he made it happen (even though CBS didn't pay him or me before, and what they pay him now literally doesn't cover his gas to get there and back). Anyway, Shane's a good man and deserves your support.
OK, I have to get back to selling my stuff on Ebay and, of course, not competing.
That's all I have to say about that.
Bill
PS. Rudy's gay

I was so concerned you had been hurting yourself or lost in some drunken stupor contemplating what meaning your life could possibly have without CBS. Glad you're okay, sans the probable thumb cramps. Opposability is over-rated anyhow.

Hey Jeff & Bill,
I have been reading some of the comments that you all have received lately and I have to agree, It would be great if D&D could take over the morning show at WRIF, but with your non-compete ending so far off I would think that they will have filled the spot by then. But whatever or whereever you guys end up I will be listening. I do miss Bill's "LOST" reports, it was very enjoyable to hear your take of the show. If you start a email newsletter or podcasting please include me.

Way to go Bill, Good to finally hear from you
May 9, 2008 7:20 PM
I've been missing your wit on the radio Doyle! But at least I got a small dose of it here. The way your mind works totally entertains me. You were obviously the brain behind the D&D duo and, your personalities complimented eachother to a "T". Nice to hear from you! Can't to hear more.

Doyle - a little bitter are we? don't blame you. I was kicked to the curb too, but I didn't give them the satisfaction.
Miss you guys, can't wait until 09.

Now that's my Doyle!!!! I've been waitin' on u to finally check in...but...that's the way it is.You guys have no idea how you've been a part of our lives. And we miss you terribly. It's weird cuz it feels a lot like a death in the family. Thanks tho for sticking in there ( w/ us ) and keeping us in the loop as much as possible anyway... ( the lonely po' folks here trying to keep our heads above h2o...)keeping the faith and waiting on a old friend.Everyone here knows how easy it would have been to take to high road & move on. We Appreciate you. Thank You. XOXO

Good to hear from you Bill. Excellent job with the slacking.
P.S.S Shane is gay too!

Wow.....great to hear from ya Doyle. By the way I am not that bored that I would want to look at someone else's pictures of a vacation that include mostly scenic shots. So you don't have to worry about that. Thanks for stopping by.
Can I make a confession? I listened to you guys for years. But for the first year I had no clue what each of you looked like. And then I went to your guy's page on that old station's website. Now at this point I still didn't know who was who. I just saw your guy's picture on the page. I didn't do any research really wasn't worried about if I knew who was who. So I took it for granted that my first impression was correct.
I thought that Bill was Jeff and Jeff was Bill. Because obviously all I had to go by was your guy's voice. For some reason I pictured in my mind that Jeff because you had the deeper voice of you 2 would be the bigger more physically opposing one. So that left me thinking Bill was Jeff. So really I just assumed (and you know what happens when you assume) that I was right. So obviously turns out I was way wrong.
I hope neither of you are offended. I just thought it was funny that I thought that.
I am glad to hear from ya Doyle and I hope to hear both of you on the air soon.

DOYLE RULES!!!
May 10, 2008 10:57 AM
Glad to hear from you Doyle! Thought you were being held hostage in a basement somewhere. Hey, since you're unemployed, how about giving us an update monthly. You don't have anything else to do until the new and improved D&D '09 starts!
Miss you guys, and REALLY appreciate your taking the time to keep in touch with your listeners.
I say a BIG party is in order when you guys return to the Detroit airwaves - we're waiting, even if inpatiently.
May 10, 2008 12:18 PM
I would kick that ass in NHL2k8. Glad to hear you have the same dry British humor. :p
and BTW, Doyle does rule
May 10, 2008 1:13 PM
Doyle? Doyle who?
May 10, 2008 3:28 PM
It was so nice to finaly hear from Doyle. We miss you guys. I loved your pictures from your road trip. You must have had a great time with your kids. At least you are able to spend lots of time with them. Please continue your blogs, we miss hearing from you too. Can't wait for the show to come back, there is nothing to listen to
May 10, 2008 9:35 PM
Hey Jeff and Bill I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your show while you were on the air and I appreciate the quality of your show. It sucks that KRK/XYT whatever they're call it now switched to sports and couldn't find a spot for you guys. I'm as big of a sports fan as any but I still would have given a kidney to hear you guys keep a spot on the station.
I honestly and truly hope that you two make it back on Detroit radio and I hope to find you wherever you may land.
May 11, 2008 2:51 AM
Great to bear from you Bill. This blog was a great idea. While not a daily fill of Jeff and Bill it is getting us listeners (from 8/25/99 on ...) enough to get by.
By the way I liked the pictures you posted on flikr. More poeple should go out there to see and experience the beauty.
I can't wait till to hear you guys again. I am actually surprised I have not run into either of you out and about. Maybe some day.
May 11, 2008 10:30 PM
Glad you are still alive and not competing.
May 12, 2008 8:09 AM
I finally realize that what has been missing from my life is Doyle's Lost report! What a great season! Can't wait to hear what you think. I think Widmore was originally on the Black Rock and everyone who crashed on the plane was a descendant of other people on the Black Rock as well. Richard Alpert is a time traveler, so not sure how he fits in.
May 12, 2008 8:56 AM
Doyle....was wondering what happened to you. I sure do miss your humor and glad that you're doing well and not competing. Am soooo looking forward to the day when you guys are back on the Detroit (hint, hint) airwaves again. Detroit radio just isn't the same without you (sniff)
May 12, 2008 12:25 PM
Nice to hear from you Forrest.
May 12, 2008 12:28 PM
Awesome post, good to hear from you. Are you on xbox live too?
May 12, 2008 3:10 PM
Hey there.. nice to finally hear from you!! Hope you check in more often!!
May 12, 2008 7:24 PM
Now that we've heard from most of the old gang, what on earth is up with Beaver "It's a Beaver, It shouldn't be saying anything!!" (My all time favorite drop!!) Did he go back to Jersey? How is his wife Crispy? Please get Beaver to post on this blog too, it would be nice to hear about him too!
May 12, 2008 10:36 PM
Nobody needs to know nuttin about the Beaver! Beav doesn't even want to give up his home address to a fellow employee for a Christmas card....and ya think he's gonna let ya know anything about his whereabouts, goings-ons and what not! I think not.
WHAT'S A MATTA WICH YOU!!!!!
May 13, 2008 9:24 PM
re: books you haven't read, and daunting tasks you think about doing.
Bill, it's a no-COMPETE clause not a no-complete clause.
May 14, 2008 10:10 AM
NHL2k8 ???
I thought you would have that post grad from WSU nailed by now?
Glad to hear you are still, one of us, one of us, one of us, Gooba Gobble. (Freaks, 1933)
May 14, 2008 8:58 PM
Now go home and get yer fuckin' shinebox.
May 16, 2008 9:51 PM
I'll second the previous commenter's comments about this post being a welcome dose of Bill's wit. Damn, I miss you guys!
Ah, crap, it's that pipsqueak Rudy...
May 19, 2008 11:42 AM
