JP ORLEWICZ
Thrill Kill co-defendant Alexander Letkemann was on the stand today giving graphic testimony on the murder of Daniel Sorensen. This was the case where the guy was lured to that garage, jumped and throat slit from behind, head was cut off, body was burned. Now, I know I've been a bit out of touch with the news during the month of March being disconnected from the world down in Florida and all, so if this next detail was already well known forgive me, but FOX2 tonight was the first I'd heard of it. According to Alex, after JP Orlewicz cut Sorensen's head off, JP then picked up the head and started moving Sorensen's lips with his hand and put on a voice, pretending like it was Sorensen talking to Alex. Can you imagine being so completely lacking in anything human that you could make a joke and mock the guy you just killed? Wouldn't you think, unless you were a total monster, that you'd be just a little unnerved by what you'd just done? And can you imagine being Sorensen's parents, in the courtroom, having to hear that? How do you not try to outrun the deputies straight to Orlewicz upon hearing that?

I'm 46 and have to wonder what the hell has happened to the human race. It's this type of story that begs the question: how did these kids get to be so filled with hate at such a young age? This kind of stuff was rare when we grew up, now it's becoming the norm. Granted we hear alot more of these types of stories now with the 24-hour cable news sources. But to shoot up schools, kill people, torture children, etc. It all just sickens me. I can only imagine what the rest of the world thinks about a country that is supposed to be a super-power, democratic, civilized nation that has everything in abundance, and kills with such regularity, brutality, and in such large numbers.
I think the other unbelievable part of this story is that this is the son of someone who I graduated with!
I hate to say this, but it's becoming such a daily occurrence that when one or two people are killed, in any type of fashion, it doesn't seem to faze me. I think this bothers me more than anything else. I never thought I'd swallow this type of news and never even skip a beat. It sad to say the least!

I think people who are bitching because they think this is getting out of hand need to relax.
It's not video games. It's not rated R movies. You have people that are just not mentally sound. There have been people like this ever since humans existed. The thing is, now guns are more easily accessible. Plans are easier to coordinate with the internet, cell phones, etc. When a civilization evolves and advances, of course you're going to have a few downfalls. Perhaps some of the blame can be placed on the media? If this kind of stuff happened 40 years ago, would it have been in the news for 3 weeks straight on every station/newspaper? The media these days absolutely LOVES juice like this. A kid kills some guy and uses his head as a puppet. Kick ass - There's our front page story. Now a days there's not only Newspapers and 1 or 2 news stations. There's Fox, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc, hundreds of news papers, blogs, digg.com, fark.com, msnbc.com, etc. Hundreds of forms of media that WILL MAKE A MURDERER FAMOUS.
To be honest, there's not a damn thing we can do to prevent this. We can't blame any single thing, or even a small group of things. You just have to watch your own children and even adult family members (it's not just kids that pull this kind of shit) and hope this kind of stuff doesn't directly affect you.

I have been following this story since it broke last year. Living in Plymouth i sort of thought it hit a little to close to home so naturally i threw myself into it LOL!
i haven't been able to hear the testimony because i have been at work so hearing this is rather shocking.
JP's lawyers are trying to say he did this out of self defense. really? so mocking him and moving his lips around acting like that was self defense? i would plead insanity before anything. that child makes me wish michigan had the death penalty. there is no hope for someone who can be that malicious. As for Alex, he needs massive amounts of therapy and classes on understanding what peer pressure is all about and how to combat it.
Plymouth has 0 homicide. Which is nice. however, when we do, we do it well! remember the lady in the freezer? her husband killed her, hacked her up and put her in the freezer and told his daughter to never open it. after 10 years, she got suspicious and found her mothers mutilated remains. My mom was her teacher. She said it was horrible for her, which i can imagine. I believe, i and i could be wrong, but that was the first homicide plymouth saw.

This is a damn good reason to institute a Chinese style death penalty. Take 'em both out back immediately after conviction and put a bullet in each of their heads. Charge the cost of the bullet back to their families.

What I found to be almost as disturbing as the testimony was how matter-of-factly it was delivered by Letkemann. You'd expect him to be upset, to have his voice crack or for him to pause to gather himself. Instead, there was nothing from him, no emotion, no shame, and no regret or guilt that he did nothing as he witnessed something as graphic as closely watching someone saw the head off of another. All I could do was think about Sorensen's parents sitting in the courtroom listening to this. I felt terrible for them.
There was no way this was self-defense. This was the act of a sociopathic monster and his equally soulless friend ending the life of someone in a truly horrific manner. This Orlewicz asshole needs to rot in a cell for the rest of his life, and while Letkemann deserves the same fate, at least his plea deal might help to make sure his pal isn't able to senselessly kill again.

I have to say that I used to be a person that would say its not the games and it not the movies.. but really think about that.. you have an 8 year old seeing the violence on these things, you think this does not make an impression? Yes, we have always had people that kill out of the thrill of it, but I think it is more now because the shock factor is not there anymore, its one of the games, it is one of the movies.. its acceptable for someone older to see this stuff because they have learned what happens with death and are able to deal with it, but an impressionable child has not had to deal with that.. they should not be desensitized to this stuff at a young age.
It is crazy to think that he did that with his victim, crazy!!! And someone else said we glamorize all these murders and such.. yes, why do we do this.. if you want to be famous quick, just kill someone.. its nuts... I wish the news would stop all that, but they won't.. and I don't watch for that reason..

Got rid of my TV a few months ago. (as well as my terrestrial radio) so i haven't Kept up with the Detroit news as much as i should be.
These guys need life in prison, but only after a good 20 years in a psych hospital. Something is wrong with these guys and really the only way to prevent such behaviors in the future is not to Execute, but to study them.
Only through rigerus (sp?) daily evaluation will we begin to understand how this mindset comes to be.

This case shows why there is an extremely good argument for bringing back executions to the State of Michigan.

If there is anything we have learned from the Grant case, it's that the ladies should just hold your tongue a little. If she had just gone into the kitchen and fixed him a little din din everything would have been just fine...

Life is so unfair. This JP fucker is gonna get his "fair trail" and make sure one of his rights are violated yet stuff like this happens to good people for no reason it seems.
Here is an article about a girl I graduated high school with. It started out with what she thought was the flu and now she has had several amputations and remains in serious condition in the hospital.

It just doesn't seem right sometimes.

Honestly, if I'd just sawed someone's head off, I probably wouldn't be able to resist making SOME kind of joke, or at least chasing someone around the room with it.
Anyhow, I noticed yesterday that the only two trials on TruTV (or whatever the fuck CourtTV has become) in the last 4 months have been Michigan trials. The last one I saw was the douche from Ypsi that raped and killed that girl in her dorm room, and now headcutter guy.

I believe a few instances of vigilante justice could serve to go a long way in deterring these sick acts of violence. Psychopaths like this have little to fear from a state with no death penalty, sure they'll be put behind bars for the rest of their lives but they are in an essence taken care of. Yes their freedom is stripped but they eat, sleep, and exist entirely on the taxpayers dime and let's face it they aren't treated as they should be. I can say without hesitation that if such a heinous act were perpetrated against someone I loved a little shit eater like Orlewicz would never get the opportunity to rot in a cell because I'd shoot them dead inside of a courtroom. I'd like to see the law charge the person that did this too, can you imagine the public outcry. That's a certified public service in my eyes. Maybe if indivduals began to stand up for themselves these sick, insecure bastards would think twice before they killed with such malice and reckless disregard to human life. Understand this asshole...if you do something like this we will kill you.
