KWAME FOR MAYOR
He won't step down, even though he says Beatty-the-bed-buddy did the right thing in stepping down. Curious. A few days ago the Free Press did a piece on his defending staying put. In it he speaks not only of staying put but running for re-election. Can you believe this clown? His quote:
"There's an election in 2009, people have an opportunity to make a decision, but I will make a case at that point, too, why I'm the best person for the job."
Sadder yet that he could win. Too many people in Detroit continue in their role as abused wife so to speak. You have the power to get rid of this guy and you won't do it. His supporters turn a blind eye no matter how horrible his actions. Amazing. I was talking with a friend who saw a local report on this and they did some man-in-the-street Q & A and asked some dude in a barber shop about Kwame. His answer was along the lines of "Hell yeah I'd vote for him again! In fact if the man needs some money I'll give the man my money!"
Look, I hate to bring race into this, but Kwame does it all the time under the code word "Detroiters", and it begs the question. Would a white mayor who did all these things be getting such a free pass? A leader should serve as a living example of the best people can be, not the worst people can be...something to look up to, to aspire to. This "one of us" mentality gets you nowhere but where you already are. No matter the race, I'm talking just actions. But back to it...do look at the race a moment. Did you ever see the movie "A Time To Kill"? Samuel L. Jackson plays a man who's little girl is picked up on a dirt road by a bunch of racist redneck bastards in a pickup truck, and she's savagely beaten and raped and left for dead on the side of the road like so much garbage. Samuel L. Jackson goes after them. What father wouldn't? And HE gets put on trial. Mathew McConaughey plays his lawyer, and throughout the trial he has to battle to get the white jury to see their own deeply buried racism and how it is affecting their judgement and he of course is very limited in doing this...until the closing arguments. He asks the jurors to close their eyes and imagine this little girl, walking along the road, innocent, bothering no one, and then as the jurors oblige and close their eyes he goes on to desrcibe the horrible crimes committed to her. The brutality. The beating. The rape. The unanswered pleading. Discarding her like she is nothing in a ditch, assuming she's dead. Just a horrible, unthinkable atrocity. Then he says, "Now, imagine she's white." Eyes snap open. That instant made them realize that sadly they looked upon the crime differently when the race was changed in their minds.
All I'm saying is you have to look at the crime and not the race. But Detroit, if you're having a hard time doing that...
imagine the mayor is white.

I agree with you 100%. The guy is a loser and is bring Detroit and Michigan down. If he was a white mayor doing this I would want him fired. Race is such a cop out. The first time he did this he should of had to repay the city. But they just say don't do that anymore and he says I am with God and he is showing me the way. Sounds like the Blue's Brothers. You know 'We are on a mission from God' But I bet he can't sing that well. Miss you guys. Radio isn't the same.

of course you'll get the die hard fan who doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, but I do believe the majority understands what a shitty person kwame is. I would bet money that we would not see him in office for another term.

First off Jeff for the record I would like to make it clear I do not rape my garbage and leave it for dead. I merely expose myself to it then throw it out the window. BIG DIFFERENCE!
I agree though. I don't see how a known swindler, adulterer and suspected stripper killer is "the best man for the job". I think Dennis Archer was a good man for the job but he tried to bridge the gap between city and suburbs and was run out of town for his efforts and was said to be "not black enough"
I have no doubt Kwame loves Detroit, but until Detroit gets the courage of a battered woman who finally sticks up for herself it will keep taking it's daily beatings with this man in office.
Detroit DESERVES better and until they realize that as a community not much will change.

Hate KK, but that was a GREAT movie!

Jeff, that was so eloquent. Wow, well said. I think it's helpful to talk about race on this issue. Hey, what about the fact that the cops Kwame had fired were black? Poor guys going along doing their job got destroyed by The Man. What about the fact that the people who are really going to suffer from this embezzlement, perjury and wasting of money in Detroit are mostly black? Classic story of a black city being kept down by uncaring, greedy politicians. Where is that racial outrage for those things? You can bet it would be very clear cut if the mayor was white. And it should be clear cut now. I think how Kym Worthy handles this case is really going to be the key. We’ll see if she has the guts. If she does, at least it’ll be a “Detroiter” going after him.

If the mayor was Bill Clinton I think so!!!!!!!

Jeff, we all miss you on the airwaves. However, all I can say is "Well said" my friend. I think he is trash regardless, because in the end we all bleed red, but I do have a hard time getting too involved in it mainly because they re-elected him in there. The first term fine, the second one though? Its like putting your hand back on the hot burner. But you have a very good point and I agree to it, Detroit needs to drop the divide and learn that if the world is dealing globally in all aspects, Detroit will never make it trying it alone.

omg, jeff...what you said is SO right on! and this is why you NEED to be back on the radio broadcasting this so that the people, the public, can hear such a fantastic viewpoint, such a great analogy. i've yet to hear any radio personalities be brave enough to point out the obvious. it's pretty much turned into one long drawn out 'entertainment tonight' episode. plus...i just miss you guys so much :(

I couldnt agree more. What else does this bozo need to do before people stop excusing his bad boy behavior?
February 13, 2008 10:23 PM
Really reminds me of Washington D.C.
mayor Marion Barry - caught on tape with a crack pipe in his mouth, he pleaded his case to the people & got re-elected!
I am doubly saddened as I grew up in Detroit & can't stand the thought of ever setting foot inside those city limits :-(

Jeff, the problem with Kwame and Detroiters think he's "stiking it to the man." The more it pisses off people like me or you, the more they like him.
February 14, 2008 12:37 AM
I agree with you 100% and until the city of Detroit sees things this way, he will still be there.. it is sad, but it is a sad truth... God I miss you!!!!!

Jeff, you're brilliant! As a white Detroiter myself, I can attest to the fact that race plays a huge, almost complete role in things. However, I believe that Kwame will NOT survive this. Finally I think most people are slowly coming around to the fact that the rest of us have been right all along. I also believe that Mike Cox will not get away unscathed. I would like to ask you to view and then perhaps post on the main page the following video from WDIV on YOUTUBE:
"Manoogian Mansion Party Ch 4 Investigation"
Here is a link to the video on YOUTUBE, but you can also get it from Channel 4, but it's harder to find that way.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KfMnRvBEmlc
The Chief seems very credible and I like this quote by him about being invited to the Party at the Manoogian Mansion:
"Anytime that people mention things to you and you listen to what they say you also watch their body language. Body language will
say an awful lot to you, and his gave me reason to believe that whatever was going to transpire perhaps that I should not be a part of it."
~ Chief Joe Thomas, Chief of Police, Southfield, MI
I ask anyone who views this video to please pass it along to others. And perhaps Jeff you can send it along to anyone in the media that will play it over and over. Thank you.

I may be the only one who truly wants him to stay in Detroit. I think it's great comedy. If he leaves, what will I laugh at? Besides, the people of Detroit deserve him. They continue to vote for these losers. You want Detroit to truly rebound? You're going to need to actually have an outsider come in...and yes, HE may have to be WHITE...ooooooh!
