CHECKING IN

I was away for a few days in Florida this past week so for those who sent emails thinking I dropped off the face of the earth...no, I did not. Just the English speaking part of the earth. Oh my God, I understand little Havana and the cultural influences in different parts of the country, but it STILL pisses me off when I'm in Miami airport and the very first thing I hear is a p.a. announcement in Spanish. I remember living in Southern California for awhile, and as a white guy in my neighborhood I was a minority. So Mexican was my neighborhood that you walked into the post office and they had these scales to weigh your packages yourself to figure out postage, and the default setting was in Spanish. You actually had to press some buttons to put it INTO ENGLISH. Ah well.
Missed my kids terribly for the few days I was gone. I'll be here this week but next weekend I'll be out of state for about a month. Just pleasure. Taking my kids to an island on the Gulf Coast. March weather here still stinks, and while I have the time off to do it it'll be nice to play with them on the beach every day. Won't get an opportunity like this again so I'm taking advantage of the time. Even though I won't be checking in here much at all for the month of March, if I get some show news that I can actually share I promise I will! '09 is coming. I hope you'll remember us.

Thanks for the update. I thought maybe you had some great job offer in a great city with great weather for great sums of money! I really hope the D&D gang sticks it out until '09. All us diehard listeners are still holding out hope that we'll be hearing D&D again on our radios. 97.1 is a faint memory at this point, and I'm enjoying my XM. But if you guys come, back, I'll be wherever you show up.
Us forget you guys, never. We worry it's the other way around!

I hope this '09 talk is a teaser for a return of D & D. I cannot WAIT. I drive around all day for my sales job and I MISS YOU GUYS so much! There is no way I'll forget you. Every day 3 p.m. I have to resort to Randi Rhodes on XM Air America. I listen to her liberal politics talk and wish it was you guys talking Hilary, Barack and John.

I know what you mean about things in Spanish. It seems as if Arizona is the ONLY state with any balls any more.

For anyone who doesn't know what I mean, Arizona just passed a law so that business owners caught hiring illegal immigrants would get ONE warning with a fine, and would lose their business license for good on the second offese. Word is, Illegals are "heading for the border" in droves!! I guess now all the illegals are heading BACK to Mexico or to other states. AZ also stopped any funding of scholarships to illegals. When will other states catch on??

AZ also made English their OFFICIAL language in '06.

I'm just mentioning this in case you get used to all that sunshine and start looking toward warmer places. 330 days of sunshine per year, and low property taxes, that's all I'm saying. :)

I'm glad you're using your time off with your family and utilizing the warmer states (as long as it's for vacationing only). I used to think how much you guys were/are part of Detroit when your show started wit it's whacky intro. Good luck with everything. Dave

While in Miami, did you visit that nude beach I stumbled across when I was on tour with the B52's?

I know what you mean about the languish bearinger. For a couple of months I was delivering in Southern Texas a lot. Most of the shipping receiving are handled by people who didn't speak English too well...fun times.

Enjoy your vacation Jeff.
