KWAME SPEAKS

It is pathetic. He actually played the victim. And he has his wife at his side to also speak and help save his ass. He not only spoke of how other people cheat and they get to deal with it privately but in his case it is front page news, but then she goes on to say the same. Completely designed beginning to end to paint them as victims. Completely pathetic. I said when this first broke that this would be lost to the salacious details and the focus would be misplaced. This is not about the cheating. This is about the perjury, the obstruction of justice, the purposeful destruction of the careers of innocent police officers to hide his affair, the wasting of millions of dollars from an already cash starved city...and this bastard has the balls to say how hard he's working for you in Detroit? He wouldn't address these things of course. Said how for legal reasons he wouldn't at this time. Which of course proves the rest of their speech was bullshit; that what matters at the heart of this case isn't a private matter at all but a very public one. Pathetic.

Why do I care that his wife forgave him? That IS private. The part I care about is why he lied under oath and how he's going to answer to that. THAT is public.

Jeff, you forgot to point out all his "God" and "faith" references! Too bad he didn't think about God/faith when he was poking his junk in places where it didn't belong, or when he was sitting on the stand in court, commiting perjury, or when he took the jobs out from underneath 2 cops because they were doing their jobs (unlike himself!). Oh hindsight is a such a wonderful, wonderful thing!

This was even more pathetic that I thought it could possibly be. This is far from a private matter. This isn't about him screwing that bitch, it's about abusing his power and the citizens of the city of Detroit getting screwed in the process. He lied under oath, period, end of story. No trial, just resign and go to jail. He is a filthy pig dressed in a nice suit. The the ONLY difference between him and some gang banger - he dresses better and has access to alot more money! He makes me sick and I hope he gets what he deserves. And his wife needs to think more of herself then to agree to sit there and listen to that crap and be USED to gain sympathy for her pig of a husband. Get a backbone and leave this asshole!

I completely agree. It is absolutly pathetic. He is such a disgusting human being. Unfortunately, we are stuck with him. The people who support him DESERVE him. He isn't going anywhere and that shows you how arrogant he really is. If he really wanted to do the right thing he would resign immediately and turn himself over to Ms. Worthy and be prosecuted for being a disgusting liar and wasting millions and millions.

Jeff, you totally hit the nail on the head. I found myself scoffing at him the whole time; and to put his wife in front of the camera was just laughable (what a position to put her in). It's a shame that it cost the city of Detroit $9 million because Kwame was throwing his junk at Christine Beatty. Oh yeah, and lied about it under oath, which is the main issue here. What an absolute piece of shit he is.

Nice letting Beatty take the fall. I wonder what kind of payout she's going to get by doing that.

What a piece of work this mayor is. He obviously doesn't care about the City of Detroit. Have you read about his new chief of staff? The guy owes everyone in town money including the CITY! Character is not an issue with this administration and it shows.

Pathetic was the first word that came to mind for me also. His wife is enabling him, and the electorate of Detroit will sadly continue to do so.

Detroit is the equivalent of a 3rd world nation. Nothing will happen to him because he is black and because he is a leader in a black community... even tho he's yanking them around by their short hairs.

In my opinion, it isn't worth loosing a minute's sleep over.

Let the people of Detroit bask in their ignorance.

Kwame is an ignorant fool! He wasted all of the city's money and power to bed an ugly ho like Beatty!?! Come on Detroit... no wonder no one in the country gives you idiots any respect! Imagine if this happened in Pheonix, Arizona........the mayor would surely resign because the people would throw his ass out anyways...... get with it Detroit! Throw this moron out on his ass!

I have to agree, Jeff. All he did was play the "I'm sorry I'm a cheater" card. How about the $9 million lawsuit? How about all of the time he spent on city trips sleeping with Christine Beatty? I'm sorry, but a Riverwalk, some hotels, and a few new houses (that no one lives in or are in foreclosure) can make me forget the severely high price that I pay for living and working in the city of Detroit. Sorry, Kwame, but you have to go.

BTW, at the protests downtown today some of the workers had som Kwame t-shirts that said: I did not have 'text' with that woman! LOL!

Even my teenaged sons could see thru his outragous apology. An apology for what....He gives no answer there. Unbelieble that his wife sat by his SIDE. She deserves him. You can love someone and still want nothing to do with them.
Wake up!

Jeff, you couldn't have thought that King Kwame wouldn't have played it much different then he did. Everyone is forgetting this isn't about his affair, this is about him lying under oath, but everyone forgets that. Whatever...if Detroit keeps King Kwame then whatever higher power you believe in help them.

when i heard he would be broadcasting this insanity from his church, i didn't think they'd find a cross that big for him to hide behind. unbelievable. totally skated around the real issues and, like others and you have said, painted themselves as victims. well rehearsed, even the almost tears in his lying eyes. the key thing to remember is this: the people of detroit are so used to being embarrassed, this will not faze any of them into demanding a change. they couldn't see him for what he was when they voted him back in and they don't get it now. this is the sad part and what will always trip up any hope for improvment for that city. way to go, kwame. i'm surprised you didn't have your momma sitting next to you, too.

Hell Yeah!! I think its a joke. Its comical to see whats happening in Detroit. I love seeing the supporters for Kwame that blame it all on the media. You really can't blame Kwame for this. The citizens of Detroit gave him an inch and he's taking the whole mile and he knows no matter how much he fucks up it won't matter.

Shame on the Detroit City Council for not providing the oversite on Kwame.
